The European Division was a part of the CIA's clandestine arm responsible for Western Europe, Turkey and Canada (ref 1, pp.129-130). Some parts of Eastern Europe remained the responsibility of the Central Eurasia Division even after the collapse of the Eastern Bloc (ref 1, p.130).

It was formed in 1965 with the merger of the Western Europe and Central Europe Divisions (ref 2, p.222)

John Brennan’s 2015 re-organisation of the CIA created a Europe and Eurasia Mission Center reporting directly to the Office of the Director (ref 15). This may have absorbed the European Division as well as elements from the Directorate of Intelligence.
