G Branch of MI5 was created in 1988 to deal with international counter-terrorism. Domestic and Irish terrorism was later hived off to T Branch (ref 1, p.864).
Although the term G Branch appear's in Christopher Andrew's authorised history of MI5, it is not used on MI5's website.
