The Middle East and Africa Controllerate is reported to be a branch of the Secret Intelligence Service, better known as (MI6). According to intelligence author Philip H.J. Davies, the Controllerate is part of the Directorate of Requirements and Production (ref 1, p.302). According to Stephen Dorril, the merger of the previous Africa and Middle East controllerates took place in 1995 (ref 2, p.777).
