MI6 station Lusaka
The MI6 station in Lusaka, Zambia, has been an important base for observing events in neighbouring countries since the 1960s. This was particularly significant during the period after Rhodesia's white minority government made a unilateral declaration of independence from Britain. MI6 officer Roger Horrell played a key role in maintaining contacts with Zimbabwean opposition groups during the 1979 Commonwealth Conference in Lusaka, which initiated the process leading to the Lancaster House Agreement (ref 5).
