The Secret Intelligence Service (SIS or MI6) station in Nairobi has historically one of the service's key postings in Africa (ref 4). The position of the head of station in the late 1990s was declared to the Kenyan authorities, and he was involved in the investigation of the 1998 US embassy bombing (ref 4).
