1945-6 US intelligence unit, OSS successor and CIA precursor
The Strategic Services Unit (SSU) was an intelligence organisation of the US War Department formed in 1945 to preserve some of the functions of the disbanded Office of Strategic Services (OSS) (ref 1, p.6). It was superseded the following year by the Central Intelligence Group.
