Clair E. George (1930-2011) was a senior CIA officer.1
After service overseas, George was posted to Washington in 1979, and became head of the CIA’s Africa Division.2
He served as Deputy Director for Operations from 1984 to 1987.3 He was convicted in 1992 of lying to Congress about the Iran-Contra affair but was pardoned by President George H. W. Bush.4
