The IRGC Intelligence Organisation (IRGC-IO) is the main intelligence arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), although the IRGC Quds Force also operates covert networks.1
The IRGC has a complex relationship with the other main component of the Iranian intelligence community, the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).2 Professor Anoush Ehteshami told the UK Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee that the two agencies have their ‘own interrogation centres, their own officers, their own training’, and that ‘there is a lot of inter-agency competition and it is partly ideological … but also it is partly about resources.’3
