Reinhard Gehlen

Reinhard Gehlen was a German General who served as chief of Foreign Armies East (Russian Theater G-2) from early 1942 until the end of the the Second World War. After the war, his intelligence network, the Gehlen Organisation, was retained by the US Army, and subsequently the CIA. it formed the core of Germany's postwar intelligence organisation, the BND, which he headed until 1968.1
